In a world where stories often fade with time, Anabela Vaz continues to create literary magic that touches hearts across generations. A woman of passion, resilience, and extraordinary imagination, Anabela has transformed her life experiences into powerful stories filled with emotion, hope, and inspiration. Her journey is not only the story of a writer but also the story of a woman who dared to follow the calling of her soul.
Born in Portugal on a beautiful autumn day in 1971, Anabela Vaz displayed a deep connection with art and literature from an early age. While other children simply listened to fairy tales, Anabela lived inside them. Her imagination turned ordinary moments into enchanted adventures, and blank pages became worlds filled with wonder and dreams. Ballet, books, and storytelling shaped her sensitivity and artistic spirit, laying the foundation for the remarkable literary voice she would later become.
However, life presented challenges that tested her strength and determination. During her youth, she faced emotional struggles and moments of inner conflict that deeply influenced her perspective on life. Rather than allowing hardship to define her, Anabela transformed pain into purpose. Those experiences became essential chapters in her journey, teaching her resilience, courage, and the power of self-discovery.
A defining moment came on Christmas Eve in 1989 when she experienced motherhood for the first time. Becoming a mother changed her life forever and awakened within her a powerful sense of love, responsibility, and emotional strength. Motherhood became the foundation upon which she rebuilt herself and discovered a deeper understanding of human emotions. It was this transformative experience that helped shape the emotional depth found throughout her writing.

Although her heart belonged to creativity, Anabela spent 21 years working in the banking sector, surrounded by numbers and routines far removed from the artistic world she loved. Yet even during those years, the writer within her never disappeared. She remained a woman of profound emotions, bold ideas, and an unshakable belief in the transformative power of words. Writing was not simply a hobby for her; it was a hidden flame waiting for the right moment to fully ignite.
That moment arrived with the publication of her first novel, Neblina (2006), which marked the official beginning of her literary career. The novel introduced readers to her emotionally rich storytelling style and established her as a promising literary voice. However, the turning point that truly transformed her life came years later during the global pandemic in 2020. As the world paused in uncertainty, Anabela rediscovered the magic of fairy tales through the inspiration of her granddaughter, Benedita.
Inspired by this special bond, she embraced writing not only as a passion but as her true vocation and way of life. From that moment forward, Anabela Vaz devoted herself completely to creating stories that inspire hope, kindness, imagination, and emotional healing.
Her literary journey since then has been extraordinary. In 2021, she published Benedita the Fairy, a beautiful tribute to innocence, kindness, and the pure magic of childhood. The book captured readers’ hearts with its warmth and uplifting message.
This was followed by The World Needs Fairies (2022), a work filled with hope, values, and emotional wisdom. More than a fairy tale, the book became a reminder that compassion, love, and imagination still hold an essential place in modern society.

In 2023, she showcased another dimension of her storytelling talent with What Do You Want to Be After Midnight?, a novel featuring seven intense stories exploring identity, emotions, and self-discovery. Through complex characters and emotional narratives, Anabela demonstrated her ability to connect deeply with the human soul.
Her creativity continued to flourish with Maria do Mar, the Mermaid Who Dreamed of Flying (2024), a poetic and imaginative story about freedom, dreams, and courage. The book beautifully combines fantasy with emotional depth, creating a narrative that resonates with readers of all ages.
In 2026, she introduced I Wish to Be a Hug, a gentle and heartfelt book centered on the healing power of feelings, affection, and emotional connection. Designed to enchant both children and adults, the work reflects Anabela’s belief that the world needs more tenderness, empathy, and emotional lightness.
What makes Anabela Vaz truly unique is the emotional authenticity of her writing. Her stories blend reality with imagination, creating literary experiences that are both magical and deeply human. For her, words are far more than tools of communication. They are wings that carry dreams, fire that awakens emotions, and hope that illuminates even the darkest moments.
Today, Anabela feels fulfilled living a life dedicated to what she loves most: writing. Her mission goes beyond publishing books. She seeks to inspire readers, warm hearts, awaken dreams, and leave a lasting emotional impact on everyone who enters the worlds she creates.
More than simply telling stories, Anabela Vaz creates experiences that touch the soul. Her journey represents every woman who dares to be different, who transforms fragility into strength, and who chooses reinvention over fear.
And if anyone asks whether she still believes in fairy tales, her answer remains immediate and unwavering:
“Yes. Where love exists, there will be a fairy tale.”
